My Teaching Philosophy


Do teachers actually make a difference to society?  

In my opinion teachers are absolutely make a difference to society. I said ‘absolutely’ because teachers make students have contribution to the society in any case even if students seem to be indifferent to their teachers, their parents or their duties. Above all, teachers make a difference to society through their students. If teachers bring out successful, diligent and enthusiastic students, the society gains profits from these students.
I have some experiences about this topic. My best example can be about my high school English teacher. I was willing to learn English in my high school; also my teacher was eager to teach me English. When I endeavored in my lessons and studied hard to my exams, he showed more interest to me. He helped me improve in English and love it more. When I was in English lesson, I was more energetic and passionate to learn it. I learned more things in a while and I studied more willingly. Actually, I saw the talent inside me about learning English. As time goes on, I realized that if I have tendency on learning English, I can also teach it to other people and I can do it with a great eager. Finally, when I tried to decide which occupation is the most suitable one to me, I remembered my teacher and chose to be an English teacher. I want to be a teacher like him; kind, helpful, eager to teach and educated. He made a difference to society and helped me find the will in me. My will also will make a difference to society, hopefully. In conclusion, making a difference to society is a hard job. However, teachers are the best ones who do it.

Education is the key to success in life, and teachers make a lasting impact in the lives of their students.

First of all, because I want to be a beneficial person in the world, I chose to be an English teacher. Being a beneficial teacher means to be willing to teach, to be knowledgeable and to be able to improve in his\her professional area. Secondly, I want to be a teacher because of my personality. I am a diligent person, so I can search more things to be helpful to my students. I want to know my students’ needs and their deficient knowledge about the topics. I have had an experience working with children 2 years ago. When I was in the prep school, there was a project about teaching English to students. I worked there voluntarily and met a lot of children. Because their ages were not too young, I could easily deal with them. I behaved friendly and helpful to them. I wanted to know their missing topics and worked on them. This year, I hope to learn more about teaching skills; how to behave to students or how to react any problems, which approach should I use or should I use any method in the classroom. By the time I graduate, I hope to be a profession in my job. I want to know all kind of academic and pedagogic knowledge.










Hello my readers! I want to talk about my teaching beliefs. Because I’m going to be a teacher, I have some thoughts about students, how a teacher can be the best one, how learning processes, classroom environment and teacher as a working person.

At the beginning, I would like to talk about students in the classroom and after the classroom. Teachers should behave their students according to students’ age, background and needs. I will take them as fundamental tools while approaching students.  Teacher’s first point should be students’ age. Every student cannot be same in terms of their ages.  According to this, they cannot behave and think in the same way. Teachers should observe carefully each student and determine a teaching strategy. In this way, both students and teacher would be in an effective classroom environment.  Next, each student does not come from the same background. Their previous learning conditions, teachers or abilities differ. Again, teachers should look at students’ background knowledge closely. Lastly, students’ needs lead teacher to plan a learning scheme. Teachers should talk to their students and try to find out the best way to teach them. I would like to add a few little details about students and teacher relationship. In the class environment, there should be a kind of relationship between students and teacher. Either it can be strict or gentle; else it can be between them. In my opinion, in the class environment, teacher should be a little distant to students to show that he\she is not their friend, but teacher is the authority. On the other hand, outside of the classroom or breaks, teacher can be friendly and warm to his\her students. This ensures a good relationship between students and teacher. Also, this affects students positively in the class and after the class. They won’t be like students who are not willing to come to school and do their assignments.

Now, I want to mention about teacher, his\her personality in the classroom and what kind of teacher I want to be. Teacher is the leader who tells students how they can process and understand what teacher teaches. Also, teacher can be sort of friend with students. As long as teacher protects boundaries, students can get along with teacher well and more enthusiastic to lessons. Teacher’s personality is important, as well. The teacher should be equipped, well-organized and sophisticated; in addition he\she should be active in the classroom. Teacher’s energy gives students motivation and willingness to the course. Lastly, I have thought about what I should do to be the best teacher. I hope I will be a teacher two years later. I want to talk about what kind of teacher is the best and whether I want to be the best or not. I would like to be a kind of teacher that is both warm-hearted and little bit disciplined. In my university life, I have seen teachers that are like that and those teachers are liked and counted on. One of my essential goals is to teach effectively and efficiently. In other words, my students should see their achievements that are done effectively which means their results are desired and my students should done their assignments efficiently which means their assignments are well-organized.

My next topic is about basically learning. I will mention about how people learn a language, whether teachers should follow a methodology, how tests are seen on behalf of teachers and whether technology should be used in the classroom. Learning a language is both a difficult job and an enjoyable excitement. It is difficult because learners most probably do not know anything about that language. It can be different from their mother tongue. So, learning its pronunciation, spelling, words and grammar is a hard task. On the other hand, if learners add some interesting aspects to learning process, they can learn faster and easier. They can learn how to pronunciation by watching television, learn grammar and vocabulary playing games. The key point in learning a language is to be exposed by that language. Learners should familiarize with that language. They can use it in every area of their life. They can learn more effectively if they use it anytime. Secondly, most of teachers use a particular methodology or approach in their classroom. I think the strategy that the teacher use should not be chosen randomly. Teachers should look at students’ interest, their way of learning and needs. According to these, teachers can make a schedule and determine a methodology. Next, the one thing that scares students is tests. They can cause excitement and fear in students. Because tests are difficult for students, teachers also do not like them, most of them actually. I think teachers want more simple and knowledge measuring tests, as well. The fundamental aim is to evaluate students, so why do schools force students to take frustrating tests? Furthermore, technology should take part in the learning process. It helps students learn more things and find interesting sources. Nevertheless, technology should not be used carelessly. Although there are useful sources, there are sites and sources that harm students. So, either use of technology should be taught in the schools or parents should teach them. As long as technology is used for its purposes, it is a helpful and useful tool for students’ development.

Moreover, classroom environment is essential for students and teacher. The classroom environment should be pleasant, friendly, warm also a little strict. Teacher should behave to students kindly, answer their questions without being angry and try to solve their problems in a positive way. Teacher should be authority in the classroom in order to protect the classroom harmony, as well. Class activities are beneficial for students’ performance and classroom environment. They should include both informative and enjoyable tasks. Students use their knowledge more effectively while working with their friends and learn more in a long- lasting way. It helps students stay the information in their brains more permanent if they enjoy while doing tasks. While in the classroom according to students’ ages and levels, your mother tongue should not be used, in my opinion. Avoiding from the mother tongue make student learn the language faster and more deeply. Therefore, mother tongue can be used until a certain age, and then it should throw away and use the language that is taught.

My last topic is about working as a teacher. On the one hand, teachers should teach new things to their students, grow them as conscious individuals; on the other hand, they should continue to develop in their areas. They can attend conferences, teaching groups or continue searching new ideas. Unless the teacher improves in his\her area, he\she cannot inform his\her students. So, teacher cannot interact with students in educationally reliable conditions. Lastly, I would like to add my long-term future in this profession. Although I have two years to decide what I will do after university, I have some ideas in my mind. Because I ‘m interested in searching, reading, writing and learning, I want to be an academic career in the future. I know my work will not finish when I finish my university. There is a lot of information outside of my view and I want to learn, work on and improve them. I want to visit study areas, universities and work with people who have different ideas about the world.
